Ireland's first woman ambassador to the United States: Anne Anderson
On September 7th, 2013, Anne Anderson began her 4 year term as the first woman ambassador from Ireland to the United States. One day later she was honored at a brunch given by Robert and Joan Bunning. Robert is the founder and bass for The Brothers Flanagan, a male vocal quartet that has been singing Irish/American music in the DC area for the past 23 years. The Brothers sang "The Irish Blessing,' ( Don Grey arrangement) as a prayer before the brunch, and later sang the High Kings version of "The Parting Glass" to conclude the ceremonies. Anne gave the quartet her blessing as she left, and said she hopes to hear more of them during the next four years.
